The Dutch photographer and art director on his longtime collaboration with Depeche Mode, moving into feature films and 50 years of documenting music culture.

In 1979, the 24-year-old Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn talked his way into a Joy Division shoot in a London Underground tunnel by citing a magazine assignment he didn't have. The band posed with their backs to the camera, and subsequently, no magazine accepted the photo. Within a year, Ian Curtis was dead, and the picture became one of the defining images of post-punk.

Corbijn has since become one of the world's best known music photographers, capturing artists like Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Bowie, Captain Beefheart and nearly every major name to enter the pop realm. In this RA Exchange, he reflected on a life spent documenting music culture and his new retrospective at Fotografiska, Corbijn, Anton, which spans five decades of his work.

He also spoke in depth about his longtime relationship with Depeche Mode. As the band's creative director, he has worked on all of their music videos, stage design, album covers and more for over 40 years. Corbijn's retrospective will be on display until September 20th, 2026, and his new feature length film, Switzerland, will land in theatres this year. Listen to the episode in full.

4. Toobris - Zawyeh

KYSH-002 brings together four artists representing different shades of the current sound. Opening track "Activ" sees SEIGG return shortly after his solo EP, delivering a signature glitch-driven banger with a powerful, instantly recognizable hook. Alarico follows with "Tears", building emotional tension through his characteristic chopped vocal work and driving arrangement.

On the flipside, Fenim0re's "My Last Descent" shifts into a more restrained, hypnotic territory - a minimal yet groovy tool with a strong sense of forward motion. Closing comes from Toobris with "Zawyeh", a low-end focused cut recalling early 2000s minimal techno aesthetics, reimagined with increased, modern pace.

With KYSH-002, the label solidifies its presence on wax - delivering a focused, high-impact selection from some of the most vivid voices in modern techno.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from exc. "Excise" comes off the new release, Body Without Organs, forthcoming on About Repetition. With "body without organs“, exc continues its long-term project „exc.directory“ – a four-part journey through control, belief, language, and dissolution. Where Seductive Supervision dissected the mechanisms of power, this second chapter shifts its gaze inward, to what remains of the subject when every structure, every identity, every function has been removed.

Seven tracks, seven surgical interventions into the self. "bwo“ opens with excise: broken breaks, cutting frequencies, the body loses its contours, dissolving layer by layer in rhythm. Not dance, but a surgical emptying of movement – sound as an operation on the self, experimental drum 'n' bass that does not drive the body, but dismantles it. .excerpt leads further into industrial spaces, where metal meets breath and the boundary between man and machine begins to flicker.

7. Historia da Vida
8. Ghost Particles

Dextro’s tunes have long been a staple of Mutual Rytm label head SHDW's sets, with the esteemed veteran previously landing on the label with his ‘Covil Dos Abutres’ EP last year. His return with ‘Planets And Stars’ features a selection of his most requested IDs from recent times, with the Portuguese DJ/producers featuring as a longstanding favourite within the European underground since the 90s through his stripped-back,
economical sound that is rooted in masterful design and intuitive grooves. He is a true studio craftsman, whether going deep or more destructive, and that range is on show here as he makes a splash for his sophomore outing. SHDW notes, “‘Planets And Stars’ feels like his most refined and focused work to date. It also further strengthens our relationship, rooted in a shared vision and values around music and how it should be presented.”

The EP kicks off with the heavyweight ‘1000 Places’, a track that will rattle walls as eerie synth whispers and sonar blips snake through the mix. ‘Industria Acéfala’ is just as hypnotic with a deep blend of rolling bass and
rooted kicks, while unsettling tension comes in the one-note synth loops and scratchy texture. ‘Planets and Stars’ provides an intergalactic trip with cosmic dust, conscious spoken words and an infinite horizon that has
you gazing off into the distance. The all-consuming ‘Perpendicular’ is shadowy with impish motifs darting about the mix as watery droplets fall into cavernous kicks. ‘Winter Letter’ is the final 12”cut and is perfectly deep, linear techno with gorgeous ambient details that turn your thoughts inwards. Three digital bonuses expand the trip: ‘Torresmos com Pão’ is unsettling and sparse, ‘Historia da Vida’ ramps up the tension with oversized hi-hats and rising synth turbulence and finally ‘Ghost Particles’ has shimmering bell sounds evoking a spooky moon-lit church in the dead of night.

Techno heavyweights Function and Nastia Reigel first came together over a shared love of early, rave-leaning and transcendental grooves. After months swapping tunes from both the old and the new school, they got to work in the studio and, in May, dropped their Devocion EP on Dekmantel. The four tracker explores broody and melancholic techno that is doused in emotion with plenty of shadowy atmosphere and deep rolling rhythms.

Off the back of that, they have now put together a mix that explores this world even further with tracks from the likes of Donato Dozzy and Regis, plus two from their own EP. The drums are quick and the mixing is tight as the pair seamlessly traverse sounds that veer from the futuristic to the psychoactive. It's colourful techno that goes way beyond pure body music.

Entirely unreleased, undeniably funky techno.

Charles Accarisi, AKA Chlär, treats techno like a science. From his earliest days as an audio engineer, the Lisbon-via-Switzerland artist has approached techno with the precision of a seasoned experimentalist, dissecting our love of listening to kick drums in dark, sweaty clubs down to its very bones.

Before launching his label, Primal Instinct, in 2023, he dug deep, building its foundation on neuroscience studies exploring syncopation and bass frequencies. Yet, for all its academic rigor, Accarisi's music remains incredibly funky.

You can hear this endless pursuit of groove in his DJ sets. His productions flit across the techno continuum with similar versatility. One minute, as half of Funk Assault, he's flipping a Beastie Boys vocal into a 140-BPM weapon; the next, he aims straight for the head, trading peak-time bacchanalia for the haunted hypnotism of the afterhours.

RA 1041 is all of this and more. Composed entirely of unreleased tracks, it delivers 70 minutes of heads-down techno in its purest form. It's heavy and dark, for sure, but undeniably swung, seamlessly bridging dub techno and sweat-inducing hardgroove throwbacks. This is contemporary techno synthesized by a master chemist.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from BiGALKE. "Mantel der Verdammnis (SVERRA Remix)" comes off the new release from the Leipzig based artist. From the label:

Gray and viscous, the bark of the Forgotten flows from the timbers of the Last Supper. Softly, yet without stirring, the wind turns within the gas of its own fears. Tracklist:
1. Skyland
2. Infinity Drift
3. Stimulus
4. Impulse

‘Skyland’ asserts itself first with impressive pace. Swift chord stabs open and close to create waves of excitement and craze in the track while percussion shuffles along to add impact; Cirkle is an artist of all rooms and dimensions. Shrill sound design cuts through the stereo field creating a wormhole in the middle of rhythmic determination. Tension balance and anticipation are his specialty and every transition whips his dispersed elements into singularity in the EP, specifically the title track. A truly musical piece that embraces the crowd with vintage warmth, ‘Infinity Drift’ tones down the dissonance in exchange for something closer to astral exploration. These larger than life themes are never lost on dancers and serve to unify the dancefloor into an organism instead of pushing sound system violence. This is a theme that is omnipresent in Cirkle’s music and carried through into ‘Stimulus’. Here, the Greek producer dips into the hypnotic bordering on psychotic, stretching arpeggios and delays across drum transitions and time. The dimension of ‘Stimulus’ matches the preceding tracks with ease, but stands out in its effect, rolling a powerful synth through reliably tuned percussion. For the final track, ‘Impulse’ sees Cirkle prioritizing the importance of drums. Pressing hard on the drive of the kick, rides and filtered claps squeeze their way out of the low end to create an infectious groove. Stabs of ethereal pads envelope the rest of the EP, leaving space for the rest to breathe. Bumping along the way, Cirkle lands the EP with class, cementing himself further as an artist whose knowledge of the dancefloor creates a singular experience.

TECH040, titled INTRO, is a functional exploration of electronic music’s most delicate moments. Conceived as a functional extension of the DJ set, the "INTRO" series explores the moments that frame the dancefloor experience. Focused on beginnings and endings, each release navigates the subtle tension between anticipation and resolution – from the first pulse that opens a space, to the final echoes that dissolve it. The label returns with its 64th release, welcoming Irish-born, Berlin-based artist SWARM INTELLIGENCE for his debut appearance on the label. Presented on vinyl, the release showcases his singular sonic vision—what OMEN describes as “broken cyberpunk ritual mechanical techno.” Complementing the original material are remixes from pioneering rhythmic noise duo ORPHX and OMEN label heads AXKAN and DUELLIST. Together, the release traverses crushing industrial textures, fractured rhythms, and driving passages of eerie uplift, while remaining firmly rooted in the broken industrial techno aesthetic that defines OMEN Recordings.

For this release, Toobris approached the sessions as a raw form of output. Rather than trying to “produce” or shape something intentional, the focus was simply on observing what emerged. Instead of directing the music, he let it unfold on its own, acting more as a witness than a guide.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Mogano + Maze DK. "Cybervoid.exe" comes off the new EP of the same name forthcoming on Arboretum. After several years, label-head Mogano returns on Arboretum, teaming up with queer Polish artist Maze DK. Genuinely reflecting the aftermath of both artists' backgrounds, Cybervoid.exe stretches the conventional techno-industrial archetype into a brighter cinematic language that yields emotionally dense moments as well as intense, floor-breaker incursions. The São Paulo-based artist tears through baile funk, ballroom, Latin club and techno in a turbo-charged showcase of global club music's cutting edge.

Take one look at Clementaum behind the decks and she seems less like a DJ than a force of nature. Dressed to the nines and usually keeping time with a fan, she mixes impossibly chaotic drum patterns that ricochet from baile funk to ballroom, Baltimore club to kuduro. Her sets are packed with her own productions—deliciously chaotic collisions of two decades of Latin American club music, shaken hard with EDM and techno.

Raised in Curitiba, Clementaum entered nightlife as a hostess before stepping behind the decks and beginning to produce in 2018. A Rinse FM residency followed in 2023, her first European tour in 2024 and now, fresh off her debut Oceania run, she has her sights set on the rest of the globe.

RA.1040 is a turbo-charged introduction to Clementaum's sonic world. Loaded with unreleased tracks from herself as well as other rising figures in the Brazilian underground, it captures the bleeding edge of global club music: ecstatic horn lines, flubber-bounce kick drums, freewheeling vocal samples, stadium-sized breakdowns, video game arpeggios and basslines that seem to rearrange space-time itself. It's possible you haven't heard a Clementaum set before, but it's impossible to forget one when you have.

Isaiah is the 489th guest of our original HATE Podcast series.

Amsterdam-based Isaiah is a DJ, producer, and co-founder of the Frenzy and Vulged collectives, and one of the driving forces in the city's contemporary underground. A lifelong musician, his sets move between old-school grit and sharp, percussive modernism. Raw, physical, and forward-thinking, his sound is engineered for momentum prioritizing movement, tension, and long-form dancefloor hypnosis over fleeting trends.

For HATE, Isaiah recorded a one-hour journey built entirely from unreleased self-produced material - new tracks alongside forgotten sketches from different eras of his catalog. Raw, honest, and personal: some tracks finished recently, others quietly waiting for the right moment to be rolled out.

For this one-hour podcast recording, Pierce focuses on tension, dialogue, and release, carefully layering hypnotic grooves, evolving textures, and driving rhythms into a fluid, forward-moving journey. Tbilisi-based DJ/producer Pierce is known for his instinctive ability to build energetic, driving atmospheres, both in the studio and behind the decks. With releases on labels such as Token, WSNWG, and Sublunar, his productions are rhythmically precise, texturally rich, and driven by a relentless sense of purpose.
As a DJ, Pierce has brought that same intensity to some of the world’s most respected dance floors, including Tresor, K41, Horoom, and Tillatec.

DJ Sun began his journey in music after being inspired by illegal raves, which led him to throw his own parties and found OTIUM collective in 2018. Shrouded by mystery, Sun’s sound draws inspiration from Hip-Hop, Jazz, and House to produce rapid beats with chugging bass.

‘Para Social Activity’ is a conceptual EP that explores the illusion of connection between the artist and the audience in the digital age. Through a sequence of hypnotic, fragmented tracks, DJ SUN explores the idea of parasocial relationships. In a context where every moment can be captured, edited, and shared, perception becomes stronger than reality. The artist turns into a projected figure, shaped as much by the audience as by their own output.

The EP blends raw, club-driven techno with subtle digital textures, broken vocal elements, and evolving patterns that mirror the mechanics of endless scrolling and feedback loops.

Described by François X as “a series of states, fully formed, fully lived, where years of immersion have dissolved into instinct,” the record moves away from overt conceptual transformation and settles into something more immediate: presence, pressure and emotional clarity through sound.

At its core lies the warmth and soul of Black American dance music alongside the cold physicality of European club architecture. Within this tension, Bound States unfolds through dense grooves, hypnotic repetition and restrained melodic movement.

From the warm tension of Bones & Harmony to the rolling hypnosis of Bound State, the emotional weight of Just A Feeling and the direct physical impact of Type X, the EP captures François X at his most distilled and instinctive.

The artwork directly references the visual language of XX LAB’s 2022 Digital Fever EP, extending the label’s ongoing exploration of music, symbolism and identity.

Mareena's deep connection with electronic music began in her early teenage years in East Germany, where she experienced the quaking rise of techno. She has earned a long-standing residency (since 2012) in the techno institution Tresor and her ability to include hard and elegant elements into her vinyl-oriented sets has led her to play at renowned clubs across the globe. Enjoy!
The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Unpronounceable. "Destination Unknown (Gay Horror Remix)" comes off the new release of the same name forthcoming on Italy's Marguerite Records. The release is born from an archive of sounds collected between 2019 and 2024—sonic fragments that took shape without a predetermined direction, guided only by an open idea in constant transformation.

The original track, conceived as a “destination unknown” composition, developed its own independent identity. However, precisely because of its fluid and cross-genre nature, Unpronounceable chose not to place it within a traditional EP context, instead opening it up to a multiplicity of perspectives by inviting five artists to reinterpret it freely, without genre constraints.

The result is an EP that unfolds like an alternative map of the same sonic territory, where each remix explores a distinct direction, transforming Destination Unknown into a multifaceted and ever-evolving experience. With Gay Horror, the focus shifts to an emotional and narrative dimension. The vocals are deliberately made elusive and undefined, while the structure develops through a slow, controlled crescendo that recalls the atmospheres of ’90s trip-hop. This version also reflects a long-standing human and artistic relationship, conceived as a story that travels through time and reaches the present day.

Out May 29th on vinyl + digital. Get it at: https://margueriterecords.bandcamp.com/album/destination-unknown

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Ason Teva. "19_85" comes off the new album, Breathing Asbestos", forthcoming on Invisible Animals. Previously known for releasing immersive techno and emotive electro on imprints such as Detroit Underground and Confused Machines, he know dives deeper with this new album into squelching, hallucinatory cuts, while our featured track “19_85” steps back into club domain, but from a lo-fi, sweaty basement perspective of desolated synths and malfunctioning drum machines.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Decibel Place. "Swarm (Steve Redhead Remix)" comes off the new EP of the same name, forthcoming on Manchester's Scrap & Delete. Known for navigating the darker, more experimental edges of the genre while maintaining driving, floor-focused energy, the Liverpool-based Decibel Place has previously delivered on labels including Materialised, Transition, MASS, and Khazad Records. As a DJ, he continues to earn attention with his tightly constructed sets across the hardgroove circuit, a sensibility carried through this latest body of work. Steve Redhead steps in on remix duties, reworking ‘Swarm’ into a stripped-back, percussive cut defined by clarity and control, where subtle shifts in rhythm and texture drive a deeper, hypnotic propulsion.

SHDW’s Mutual Rytm welcomes back two standout label alumnus for the second edition of Versus, a newly- launched conceptual sub-label focused around two artists whose sound works individually and in unity. Hemka made an impressive and well-received debut with her full solo EP back in 2025, while Klint appeared on ‘Federation of Rytm IV’. Both artists hail from France, and have crafted a well-earned reputation for their own distinctive approaches to sound design - pairing locked in grooves with cosmic synth escapes. Across the EP, each artist delivers three individual takes on techno to make for an essential collection of high-end cuts, exploring the label’s ethos of creative symbiosis between two artists on one shared release.

Klint’s tracks lean towards minimal yet highly effective, dance floor-focused DJ tools, starting with the lithe, stripped back menace of ‘Prism’, before the sparse eeriness of ‘Dobermann’ keeps you looking over your shoulder while remaining trapped in the groove. Third cut ‘Romance’ is more bold and muscular, with contoured drums and icy pads ramping up the tension and energy. Hemka then dives deeper into a hypnotic and anthemic direction while introducing her own voice into the mix. ‘Leave It’ is textured, percussive deep techno with shadowy whispers, while ‘Breathe’ has a dark, grinning undercurrent and scintillating snares fluttering over the drums. ‘Mindness’ then pairs spoken word atmospherics with taught drum pressure and an ethereal backlit glow.

In addition, Klint's digital only cuts ‘1112’ and ‘Blue’ marry minimal synths with meticulously defined drums that hit hard, while Hemka's ‘Push’ is an anxious percussive trip, contrasting with the introspective emotional core of ‘Live To Tell’.

Guy Blanken has been part of the Dekmantel family for almost 20 years. Under his Makam alias, he explores a light, deep and dreamy sound that contrasts with his darker work as Talismann. He recently returned to our label with the delightfully dubby house album Tarp, featuring tracks from the last 10 years, made all over the world with complete freedom. “It’s more about creating a space or a feeling than telling a specific story,” he told us recently.

This July, Guy joins us in the woods for The Archive, a brand-new live show featuring plenty of treasures from his vaults. But first comes this week's mix, which follows a similar path to the album. The liquid, elongated grooves sink you in deep to dubbed out underworlds layered with painterly synth strokes and soft acid washes. Pressure and tempo build almost imperceptibly towards a refined, minimal take on techno that is for the head as much as the dance floor.

With Revelations V, Oculus marks a shift in his own arc. The release moves between two pulls; heavy, low-end pressure on one side; melodic, dream-state atmospheres on the other letting the friction between them to define the work.

There's a tension every techno producer eventually meets: the pull between music that fits cleanly into a mix and music that wants to tell a longer story. With Revelations V he stops treating it as a question. The EP assumes the floor and speaks to it directly.

Sleek, sensual bass science from the NYC SLINK boss, sketching a new blueprint for dub in the 2020s.

Kenzo Perron, AKA K Wata, uses bass the way a poet uses punctuation. Sub weight, subtle wobbles and snaking rhythms become commas, dashes and periods—tiny gestures that shape movement, tension and release.

Perron's sound sits somewhere between the cavernous minimalism of Rhythm & Sound and the wiry precision of Livity Sound, pulling equally from sound system culture, contemporary minimalism and East Coast club music. His breakthrough 2021 EP, What Do U Wan, sounds like the photo negatives of a Fade to Mind record redesigned for sunrise at Sustain-Release (not to mention his work with Daytimers affiliate Enayet as E-Wata).

More broadly, Perron belongs to a a growing American underground reshaping dub techno and bass music in adventurous ways. What sets his music apart, however, is the way it balances delicacy with kineticism and, as his RA Mix makes clear, a touch of sexiness and intimacy too. RA.1039 draws from that very sonic palette.

RA.1039 is mainly composed of contemporary dub tracks released in the past decade (with a few choice exceptions). One minute we're wigging out to the krautrock-meets-Black Ark Studio of Eiger Drums Propaganda, the next we're slinking to the hi-fi club of Significant Other. In Perron's hand they melt into a molten liquid of sexy, sleek, bass science.

Always moving forward but never chasing trends, Deas continues to evolve organically. His music stays sexy, hypnotic, and groove-driven, while the addition of his own voice — particularly on the track “Direction” — subtly highlights the direction of his artistic development.

“No Excuse” is powerful tool to make the floor burn in every club, where the track will be played. “Out The Way” surprises with the sampled vocals and the high tempo – this song could be a perfect soundtrack to a science-fiction-movie.

Rather than chasing trends or dramatic stylistic shifts, Deas continues to refine his sound from within. The result is techno that feels confident, focused and club-ready — proof that evolution can be more powerful than fake revolution.

Tracklist:
A1 Luminous
A2 Sentimento
A3 Cassiopeia
B1 Gunslinger
B2 Twisted Fantasy
B3 Deliria
DIGI_1 - Morphosis
DIGI_2 - Abyss

The EP opens with Luminous, driven by a solid groove and a uniquely recognisable vocal, before moving into Sentimento, a direct and powerful cut built around raw, gritty synth work. Cassiopeia follows, darker in tone, carrying a sense of melancholic tension that sets it apart. On the flip side, Gunslinger delivers high-impact energy with a driving groove, while Twisted Fantasy explores a more chaotic and textural approach, shaped by distorted elements and unpredictable arrangements. Delira continues the journey with hypnotic vocals and an intense, immersive groove.

The digital version features Abyss, a deep and dark piece with rich sonic depth, alongside Morphosis, a more stripped-back, groove-focused tool. With this release, Pierce firmly positions himself as one of the most compelling emerging voices in the current techno landscape.

Sicion makes a hypnotic debut on GRÜV with his latest EP, Dancing Shadows, on which he explores ritualism and mysticism through shifting sonic forms. Across the project, stripped-back minimalism sits alongside moments of heightened intensity, creating a tension between restraint and release. Tribal rhythms, haunting violins, and abstract sound design form the core of the EP’s atmosphere, evoking the blurred space between the physical and the spiritual.

Jin Synth delivers a live recording of her set from Lacasita at OHM in Berlin from March of this year.

The London-based artist provides a perfectly engineered trip demonstrating her ability to lead a dance floor.

Words from the artist :

"This is the recording from my set for La Casita at OHM on a freezing cold Thursday night in early March. It was a nice evolution of people chatting and hanging out whilst slowly warming up and eventually filling the dancefloor.
Across the 2 hour performance, I kept things pretty dark, deep, and atmospheric using 4 decks so that I could play around with a lot of ambient and experimental layers on top of the tracks to give them more texture. Hope you enjoy it! "

NX1 returns with Deprogramation EP, a focused four-track release that reaffirms their signature sound: direct, hypnotic techno built for the dancefloor. Moving from tense, groove-driven rhythms to heavier, more forceful territory, the EP unfolds as a cohesive journey where each track plays a role in a shared idea of sonic and physical deprogramming.

Tracklist:
1. Deprogramation 1
2. Deprogramation 2
3. Deprogramation 3
4. Deprogramation 4

The journey begins with Deprogramation 1, a muscular, rubbery cut driven by a straight, firm groove that moves forward with almost martial determination. It’s a deeply mental track built on sustained tension, where every element feels carefully calibrated to induce a hypnotic state that intensifies as it unfolds.

Next comes Deprogramation 2, built around a loopy techno pattern with an impeccable groove. It’s one of those tracks conceived as the perfect DJ tool: functional, efficient, and deeply addictive, maintaining a steady pulse while subtle variations keep it alive and constantly shifting.

With Deprogramation 3, the journey expands. Here, NX1 crafts a classy strain of techno, elegant within its rawness. Mechanical trance merges with bleepy details that add movement and a subtle epic touch, lifting the track into a progressive, immersive ascent.

The EP closes with Deprogramation 4, bass-heavy and clearly tougher in its approach. It retains hypnosis as its core principle but pushes the intensity further, increasing sonic pressure and sharpening its edge, making it the most forceful moment of the release.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a "Bondage" by KKD. Off the record, Secret Room, the release is a retrospective that reopens the sonic and visual archive of KKD, bringing back to light a trajectory that long remained underground within the history of Italian new wave. The tracks, recorded between 1979 and 1986, reflect a constantly evolving process shaped by experimentation, improvisation, and a drive toward new languages. The project takes shape inside a former hotel in Italy’s Po Valley, transformed into a studio, rehearsal space, and visual lab. Here, among analog synthesizers, homemade electronics, and multitrack recorders, Kriminal Killer Division experimented with and pushed their available technology to its limits, developing a hybrid language: sounds captured from radio and the street, synthetic voices, guitars, and electronic sequences intertwine in compositions that move between art rock, minimal wave, and more industrial directions. This collection aims precisely to reactivate that imaginary. The vinyl is accompanied by a risograph fanzine that restores the project’s visual dimension: collages, photographs, and graphic materials reflecting the same experimental attitude found in the recordings. Sound and image move together, as parts of a single expressive device. In a Secret Room offers access to a hidden space where interference, noise, and intuition take form without mediation. Not a nostalgic operation, but a re-emergence: a living archive that continues to generate meaning in the present.

90 minutes of blissful, sun-soaked house from the essential UK producer duo.

For a certain type of DJ, a record from The Trip is a buy-on-sight proposition. Even if the name is new, you’ve likely heard their tracks in sets from Job Jobse, Shanti Celeste or Avalon Emerson. With a catalogue full of records equally at home at Pitch Music & Arts or fabric Room 2, Oliver Hiam and Max van Dijk have locked into a particular sweet spot: big, emotional dance music with enough drive to snap a festival crowd into focus, while still carrying the nuance and emotional pull of the best ’90s club records.

The key to this is decidedly old-fashion: clocking hours on the dance floor. Long before they became a hot-shot producer duo, Hiam and van Dijk were promoters first. For more than a decade, they hosted parties at Corsica Studios under the Tessellate banner, bringing artists like DJ Sprinkles, Mr. Ties and Octo Octa to London.

Think of RA.1038 as a marker for the start of summer: packed with bongo drums, piano breakdowns, and the occasional surprise (at one point, you might even hear what sounds like a dolphin sample). It hits that sweet spot for outdoor dancing: light, playful and just euphoric enough.

As they note in their Q&A, it traces a line through the deeper corners of their taste, ducking pure peak-time pressure to show off a real feel for tension and release—honed over years of reading the floor from both sides of the booth.

An acronym of its creator’s name, TYGAPAW’s third studio album is a deeply personal collection of music building worlds where Black queer and trans siblings can thrive, while unifying dancefloors worldwide. A proposition that collective wisdom liberates us from the matrix of domination we live within. The album unfolds as the latest chapter in TYGAPAW’s ongoing techno opera opus, continuing to center the voices of Black women, which surface as layered incantations rather than lyrics - powerful, haunting, sensual, activating.

With the process of creating the album starting in 2023, as TYGAPAW (Dion McKenzie) was in the first year of their transition, the music reflects the intensity of that period, where they were experiencing deplatforming as a response to the shift in their physical appearance: Tracks like ‘M32 Riddim’ and ‘Helicopter hovers over my Crown Heights Apartment’ feature high-paced rhythms intersecting with intense siren-like synths to form demanding compositions echoing a heightened sense of alert.

Yet throughout the album, relief comes in the form of TYGAPAW’s vocal features, co-conspirators, and chosen family, whose voices are treated with reverb and echo, a sonic fingerprint that leads back to the pioneers in the legendary studios of TYGAPAW’s native land, Jamaica, an important reminder that the past will always inform the future.

It is an album for dancers first and foremost, where joy, defiance, and integration with the natural body coexist, and every drop feels less like a climax than a transformation. Expect a bass that permeates your soul and melodic synthesized sequenced phrases echoing the dancehall eras of TYGAPAW’s youth, reshaped into hypnotic melodies that glow over industrial kicks designed to command attention, reasserting Jamaica's pioneering yet often overlooked contribution to electronic music.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Inch of Shadow. "Farewell" is the title track off the new EP forthcoming on Indigo Children Records. Inch of Shadow is an electronic artist exploring the darker edges of the dancefloor and is a producer and DJ rooted in Berlin's late-night culture.
With releases on Indigo Children Records, MMDiscos and Stereo Society, the project navigates the space between club ritual and sonic architecture, where darkness becomes structure and repetition becomes momentum.

"Farewell" is EBM, acid and electro converging at 122 BPM. A relentless rolling bassline locks in from bar one with sharp acid melodies cutting through industrial snares while arpeggios build beneath. A spoken vocal surfaces in the break, pulling the tension deeper. Built for the rooms where the low end is felt before it's heard - a goodbye, deliberate and unhurried.

Tracklist:

With NACHT004, Nachtmusik continues to expand its sonic identity, this time leaning into a more introspective, dreamlike space without abandoning its physicality. Rituals EP sits precisely at that intersection: hazy and emotional, yet functional enough to cut through a system at peak time.

German-born, Berlin-based pairing Alvaro and Domenik are Disguised, a duo that feels closely connected to their favourite club RSO and its Robus Floor, where most of their musical inspirations happen. They head up their own label, Inherit Records, and also host parties at Berlin's new C115 venue on the Berlin highway. Already this year, they have dropped an impressive collaborative EP with their studio partner and close friend Fabio, aka FANK, who features on this EP with his own vocals. Their sound is always defined by driving drums and hypnotic melodies that build up to intense dancefloor peaks, and here they showcase this to its fullest on their Mutual Rytm label debut via five vinyl-only cuts and three digital bonuses built and crafted to make a lasting impact.

The powerful 'Where Thoughts End (ft. FANK)' rises up through the ground like an oncoming train, as drums rumble, synths peel off the groove, and moody voices have you looking over your shoulder. 'Nightrun' is glitchier and more textured, with a fractured energy that keeps you on your toes. 'Crusher Wheels' is a deep, back-lit, and trance-inducing sound made for 4am, while 'Ashes and Algorithms' layers up eerie melodic details with bulky drums for a spare but atmospheric trip. 'All You Find (ft. FANK)' is dubby, greyscale techno with a muscular rhythm and unsettling synths, taut and tensile, balancing right on a knife-edge. Three digital bonuses explore different moods - the subtle melodic touches of 'Silent Pulse', the cosmic energy of 'Sceptre Rd', and the rising optimism of 'Twinfall’.

3. Planets and Stars
4. Perpendicular
5. Winter Letter
6. Torresmos com Pão
7. Historia da Vida

Curaçao-born sound curator Rozaly both ignites and unites the dance floor. The sounds he plays are designed to blow open preconceptions about Caribbean music and tap into a more collective sense of memory. The distillation of his musical heritage through a new contemporary lens has made him a favourite at our festivals, which is why he will join us again in Amsterdam and Croatia this summer.

But first, his mix, which he describes as "a dream through the night of the Caribbean" that starts in the evening and takes you through to early morning and touches on niche styles like zess, chutney and soca, to Rabòday, Bouyon and Carnival Ganza. The selection is marbled with his own forthcoming field recordings, demos by friends and never-released tunes from overlooked cultural pillars. "A micro patchwork of the complexity of our identities in sound, aiming to fuel a forever-growing organism of pride. Caribbean pride."

Music Producer | Live Electronic Artist | DJ | Co-founder of Small Projects Records

A chameleonic pioneer at the forefront of China’s live electronic counterculture, Wu Zhuoling has built a reputation for deeply immersive performances and genre-defying sound. Performing exclusively with hardware, she creates live sets that guide audiences through a fluid sonic journey - from soothing ambient and experimental downtempo to soulful electronica, progressive IDM, and driving leftfield techno.

Her music reflects a distinct artistic identity shaped by her cultural roots and over twenty years of production experience. Before turning to electronic music, Zhuoling was a folk singer and fronted a trip-hop band in the 2000s, an influence still felt in her melodic sensibility and lyrical story-telling. In her current electronic work, she weaves intricate sound design and rhythmic precision with organic warmth, crafting sonic landscapes that feel both progressive and deeply human.

Zhuoling has performed extensively across China’s major clubs, live houses and festivals, as well as at art exhibitions, fashion shows, audiovisual showcases, and open-air venues set against natural landscapes. Her international footprint continues to expand, with tours in New Zealand (2024) and the United States (2025), alongside performances in the Netherlands, Germany, and Japan. Her standing in the Chinese electronic scene is reflected by being invited as support act for the China tours of several renowned international artists such as Max Cooper (2024), Rival Consoles (2026) and Bonobo (2026).

Her acclaimed releases - Another Shore (2022, LP), Uncharted (2023, EP), Reverie (2024, LP) and Uncharted II (2026, EP) - mark her evolution as one of China’s most distinctive voices in live electronic music.

The emergent star of the Belgian underground delivers 80 minutes of spectral techno, electro and leftfield obscurities.

Lola Haro has clubbing in her DNA. The Brussels-based DJ grew up around electronic music, with parents who were regulars at Antwerp’s Café d’Anvers and a childhood shaped by record stores and a household soundtracked by Villalobos mixes.

Since emerging in the late 2010s, she’s become a key figure in the Belgian underground, moving within a loose network of “diggers” exploring the deeper corners of electro, techno and house.

That sensibility comes through clearly on RA.1037, where Haro drifts through spectral techno, electro and leftfield club obscurities. The mix unfolds like a fever dream: spacious grooves give way to uneasy bass pressure and jagged, alien rhythms, before slipping back into murky, immersive flow.

Rather than genre, mood binds the set—slow, creeping tension and a sense of something always on the verge of collapse. Drawing on a recent warehouse set in Melbourne, it’s a study in subtle control, with blends so seamless the seams all but disappear. In the final stretch, arpeggios spill over like acid rain, dissolving any sense of solid ground.

Funeral Future are the 485th guests of our original HATE Podcast series.

Formed by Repro and Adam Askov, Funeral Future stands among the key forces behind Copenhagen’s fast techno movement, a scene widely recognized for its intensity, emotional depth, and distinctive high-BPM sound.

As co-founders of the Euromantic label, they helped shape one of the most recognizable expressions of the Danish underground: fast, euphoric, melancholic, and deeply physical techno rooted in community, warehouse culture, and a strong DIY spirit.

Their sound moves between pounding rhythms, EBM-influenced pressure, trance-informed atmospheres, and emotionally charged melodic tension. Releases such as Hard Candy, Blue Euphoria, and The Bright Light Of Life remain defining examples of their unique approach; raw, functional, and deeply expressive at the same time.

On the A side, Laure Croft presents I Don’t Care (But I Do), her first official release on vinyl. The track captures that double edge of trying not to care while feeling everything anyway. It carries both restraint and impact at once. A reflection of growth, getting stronger, and turning everything learned into something that speaks on its own. This one means a lot.

Next to it, Pre-Silent brings his signature pressure. Raw, hypnotic, and fully locked into the sound of the underground. A track that does exactly what it needs to do, no unnecessary extra’s, no compromise.
Flipping to the B side, Sept keeps things tight and driving. With sporadic dubby elements, and a fresh take on techno soundscape, built around a low end that pulls you in and holds you there. Subtle but strong, sexy without trying.

Closing the record, Schusta lands his well deserved debut vinyl release. Gritty, direct, and full of unexpected turns. A track that hits hard and stays with you.

Four tracks, each with its own weight.
A super sexy VA.

6. Simone Zino - Route 66

“Disturbia” opens with pounding kicks and glitch-infused, organic textures. “Bazaar” follows with a strong sense of momentum, gradually unfolding its pressure, while Obscure Shape’s remix pushes it further into tense, peak-time realm. “Alien” keeps things grounded in low-end energy, enriched with trippy layers moving across the spectrum.

The final part brings more emotional weight with “How Did I Get There?” — a hook-driven weapon with a deeper pull, before “Route 66” closes the EP on a more dreamy note. Altogether, this is a high-impact release — sharp, expressive and precisely tuned for packed floors.

The Knights of the Jaguar by DJ Rolando, released in 1999 under the alias The Aztec Mystic on the label Underground Resistance, is considered one of the most defining tracks in techno history. Beyond its international club success and chart positions, the track became particularly known through a conflict with a major label. The resulting protest from the scene led to the withdrawal of the release, making the track a symbol of artistic integrity and the independence of underground culture...

Set against a world of contradictions, where values often feel hollow or inverted, the project explores the tension between survival and self-preservation, asking what is lost when conformity is prioritised over instinct.

At its core, the release is about reclaiming autonomy from conditioning. The title's central image, a dog turning on its trainer, speaks for itself. A primal rejection of hierarchy and control.

A SIDE:
A stripped-back techno trip rooted in minimalism, where Arkadia, Friction State, and Three Steps intertwine hypnotic grooves and mechanical drive, blending atmospheric layers with evolving textures into a deep, immersive sonic experience

B SIDE:
‘Unbeknownst To Us’ opens the B-side with urgency; a high energy broken framework underpins heavily textural, echo drenched percussion. Momentum is sustained until the structure gives way, collapsing inward.

‘Too Close For Comfort’ draws the listener further in. A more intimate, loop driven piece, it maintains its drive through subtle shifts in texture. Organic, almost creature like elements emerge within the distant periphery.

Digi Bonus: ‘Silent Agreement’ is a loop driven tool built for the floor; steady intensity and subtle modulation in its layers keep the energy locked and functional.

A rare snapshot of house music's early days, captured through an unheard 1986 broadcast from the East Coast pioneer.

For Humphries' long overdue debut on the RA Mix series, we publish an original, unedited radio recording from 1986, during Humphries' glorious reign over KISS FM's airwaves at the right hand of Shep Pettibone. Drawn from Humphries' own archives, the Running Back-sanctioned release captures the breadth of his reach at a time when he was breaking records week in, week out—bridging New Jersey talent, European imports and the emerging Chicago sound in a single sweep.

Every Friday and Saturday night, for over a decade, Tony Humphries checked in to Kiss FM, bringing the club to the airwaves. Alongside a residency at New Jersey's answer to Paradise Garage, Club Zanzibar, Humphries helped define the sound of garage house on the New York–New Jersey axis. Like Larry Levan, you simply can’t think of the city’s scene without him.

The hour-long mix shivers with spectral vocals and solar-plexus grooves alike, a document of Humphries knack for acting as a conduit for various funk-forward tributaries the world over. A mastermix, indeed.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Elina. "Time Moves Slow" is the second self-released track on Elina's debut album Wet Dreams Only. Through this opus, she signs an ar,s,c manifesto and reveals her multiple influences, inspirations and experiments with the desire to create an intimate space. The album revolves around powerful symbols: water, the moon, dreams, and the sacred feminine energy. Her voice takes center stage and becomes the common thread linking one track to the next.

Designed to be listened to in its entirety and preferably in order, this album offers an immersive listening experience, where each track blends into the next and tells a story. With Wet Dreams Only, Elina takes an important step forward, allowing herself to reveal her true self, experiment, and assert her own musical universe without barriers.

Continuing to expand its creative world, SHDW’s Mutual Rytm imprint now introduces ‘Versus’ - a new sub- label crafted for creative symbiosis between two artists across one shared release. Opening the series with authority, Regent and Chontane man the debut offering - two close friends and native Berliners who have been shaping techno for more than 15 years. Both long-standing members of the Mutual Rytm family, having released multiple times here before, the pair have always created music informed by life immersed in their local scene. Having both mutually influenced one another over the years, here they present their shared interpretation of techno with individual artistic DNA, forming a unified sound that represents the best of both worlds.

Regent goes first, leaning towards functional, anthemic, dance-floor-focused techno. ‘Ephemera’ is tight, minimal but forceful; ‘Slow Burn’ has synth tension rising through the dark, next to glitchy percussion; and ‘Afterglow’ lets in more light, bringing otherworldly synths that hang above the groove and consume your focus.

Chontane then explores a more musical and unconventional approach. ‘Plaxaric’ is supple, warm, and deep techno that tunnels into an abyss. ‘Grounding Factor’ is just as economical in design, but with introverted funk and evolving layers of sound. ‘Mental Lab’ spins out into complex rhythms inspired equally by IDM, jungle, and techno. It’s a mental workout as well as a physical one.

Both artists add a pair of digital bonus tracks. Regent’s ‘Control Room’ and ‘Rarely Enough’ deliver elevated, hypnotic tools, before Chontane’s ‘Escore’ and ‘Outside In’ bring extroverted drum patterns along with contrasting melodic unease.

Following the release of his debut album Identity Crisis last winter (October), Alex Wilcox returns with a thrilling new collection of remixes that push his frenetic, genre-defying sound to new heights. Tracklist:
1. i hate all of you (Hypnosis Therapy Remix)
2. i hate all of you (KUSS Remix)
3. FUCK THAT. (Catnapp Remix)

The collection features three standout reinterpretations: I Hate All of You (Hypnosis Therapy Remix) bursts forth with urgent intensity, as the full-on Korean punk-rap-techno duo distills ghostly textures, spices them with metallic chain delays, and drops a floor-shaking techno banger that hits like a live set in full throttle and making you go completely crazy.

FUCK THAT. (Catnapp Remix) cradles Wilcox’s fragmented vocals in aching, crying chords, swinging effortlessly between raw sentimentality and unbridled rage. Finally, I Hate All of You (KUSS Remix) streamlines the chaotic energy of the original into a groovy, irresistible techno ride.
Together, the remixes honor the original album - while opening bold new sonic territory, showcasing Alex Wilcox at his fearless best—bending genres until they snap and crafting electronic music that is unpredictable, delirious, and utterly alive.

This work significantly expands the musical language of the producer: evolution is audible within every single recording. Tonally, rhythmically, and accent-wise, the release becomes a deep exploration of how personal experience transforms artistic signature, turning it into a new legacy for the local and global scene. We see the author in a moment of artistic self-determination, on his path to international recognition. This is the sound of a master who cares about context, yet fundamentally refuses to meet outside expectations.

A substantial record delivers a versatile toolkit designed to function across different contexts, from peak-time floor moments to more introspective spaces.

Bambi https://soundcloud.com/bambi-dj and Beatrice M. https://soundcloud.com/beatricemasters met on Sunday afternoon at Monument Festival 2025, two artists connected through a shared affinity for bass driven, dubwise club music, and a natural understanding of how to shape space together.

Their b2b felt loose and alive from the start. Wobbly low end, groovy, full of movement, with those bombastic, serotonin charged moments landing at just the right time. There was weight in the bass, but it never dragged. everything stayed in motion, fluid, breathing.

The crowd followed. Tension building and dissolving in cycles, smiles turning into screams, small peaks opening into bigger ones. it felt lighthearted, almost effortless, but never lacking precision.

What made it work was that balance. Playful but controlled, energetic but still elegant. A set that didn’t try too hard, yet delivered fully, keeping the floor locked in and open until the very end.

Berlin-based artist ENNIO opens a new chapter for BUTO BAYANG with its first artist-led release, Gairah Manis. Following the label’s initial compilation, the EP marks a shift towards a more personal, singular voice. Gairah Manis loosely suggests sweet obsession, setting the tone for an EP where seduction, softness, and tension meet.

1. Breathe Me In

3. Black Pepper Knees (ft. Bryan Kessler & NDA)
4. Gairah Manis
5. Holla Back

Across five tracks, ENNIO leans further into the house-driven side of his sound without losing the tension and physicality that define his productions. The result moves between raw and sensual, playful and slightly unhinged. It’s music built for the dancefloor, but keeps shifting its temperature.

The first single, Black Pepper Knees, with Bryan Kessler and Indonesian artist NDA, turns a broken knee into a hook, a mood, and a lot of attitude all at once.

With Gairah Manis, ENNIO strips things back to instinct. What remains is direct, physical, and immediate.

BASHKKA plays with a purpose beyond making people dance. The Munich-born artist is an advocate for the social and political power of electronic music and is a proud advocate of queer culture. Next to her residency at Amsterdam's Raum and Blitz Club in her hometown of Munich, she plays across the world while dropping evocative originals and remixes across the house spectrum.

For this week's mix, she homes in on a seductive groove that is grounded in her own "sensual, hypnotic and driving" house music DNA. Technically mixed but full of selection flair, it's infused with glimpses of her own forthcoming tunes while cruising through classic Chicago, bouncy old school and delicious depths.
The star of São Paulo chops up 60 minutes of futuristic, global club sounds.

It's an oft-heard cliché to describe an artist as truly singular. But with Roniere Santos, AKA RHR, it couldn't be more true. Part of a generation of Brazilian and Latin American artists reshaping club music, Santos and his peers have propelled it to unprecedented global reach. His sets—fearsome, bass-driven and unbound by BPM—have made him essential at some of the world's most forward-thinking clubs and festivals, from Horst to Berghain to Gop Tun.

Behind the decks, his radical approach is both audible and felt through the body, driven by uncanny beatmatching and fluid harmonic mixing. Sonically, he pairs a knowledge of sound design with restless curiosity about music spanning continents and subcultures—evident in this recording, where Brazilian rap meets maqam-inspired melodies and breakbeat sections blend with deconstructed baile funk loops.

And while his reach is now global, Santos remains inseparable from São Paulo. It's where he found his footing: from his first residency at Tantša, to belonging at Mamba Negra, to the foundations of an international career.

For RA.1035, RHR crosses all the ground you might imagine—trance pads, dreamy pan flutes, post-dubstep, baile funk—with a menacing and seductive energy, a sense of discovery lurking behind every track.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from HKKPTR. "PUT UR F UP" comes off the new EP, EDM IS THE NEW TRANCE, forthcoming on Italy's AnGelZ. Stripping back the layers of European club history to find the soul hidden within the noise, "EDM IS THE NEW TRANCE" reinterprets the aggressive DNA of European rave culture, deconstructing its frantic power into a heavy, slow-motion fever dream.

Essential listen for those who miss the hypnotic simplicity of early raves and the days of dancing Tecktonik to cellphone speakers, but crave the dark sophistication of the present, the EP serves as a love letter to the raw energy of the early 2000s and the subcultures that defined a generation.

By blending EDM, Hardstyle, Complextro and Lento Violento, HKKPTR creates a unique "industrial-sludge" vibe, proving that the spirit of the 2000s is still very much alive.
