Jamie 3:26 has been a pivotal part of the Chicago scene for decades. Hailing from the South Side, he has been immersed in the city’s musical culture since day one, and not long after started to help shape it with his own expressive DJ sets and edits. Many of them made it into A Taste of Chicago on BBE, a compilation he put together of his own early takes on Windy City mainstays like Chip E, Jungle Wonz and Braxton Holmes back in March. Over the years, he has held various residencies in the city and soon went on to break out onto the international circuit, where he continually represents his hometown sound with real authority.

Opening up with what sounds like a snippet from a pastor’s sermon, there is plenty of real life spirituality in this mix from the off. The ensuing two hours are a real lesson in groove and emotion, a panoply of house, funk, soul and disco that is loose limbed and expressive but also masterfully sequenced so as to tell a real story. It is a wonderfully widescreen representation of a city from someone who knows it as well as anyone, and one that will have you cutting loose and shifting shapes in no time.

We are pleased to present a new track from Especta Negra. “The Passion Of Love” comes off the new compilation, Red Shadows (Witches Are Back) and all proceeds will support the “Nessuna da sola - sostieni le sexworker” campaign which gives assistant to sex workers in Italy during the Covid-19 emergency. In Italy, many "non conventional" jobs have no real income (mostly “black money”) and those who work in these jobs are essentially invisible to the Italian government so there is no access to any kind of social assistance benefits. For sex workers already living in precarious and difficult conditions, this has become a real humanitarian crisis. Organized and promoted by the trans-feminist collective Ombre Rosse and a wide network of pro-sex workers associations the campaign seeks to support those in need.

Consisting of 13 tracks, Red Shadows covers the Witches Are Back sound - from industrial to noise, techno to acid-house. Today we premiere “The Passion Of Love” by Especta Negra which showcases her raw, powerful electronics sound. Juliana Huxtable continually crosses boundaries and breaks down borders. Her multidisciplinary art takes in writing, performing, poetry, DJing and running the Shock Value nightlife project in New York, where the Texan currently lives. She explores themes of history, the body, the internet and much more, often with a strong sense of personal identity. Next to solo exhibitions she has authored two books, worked as a Visiting Artists Program lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is involved with a number of collectives that challenge gender norms, interrogate notions of race and engage with socio-political issues and sexuality, often in visceral ways.

This week's mix is just as direct and physical. It is a sound college filled with rage and confrontation, where brutalist industrial textures and squealing synths crash into banging techno. Human voices are mangled into walls of white noise and uncontrollable machines run riot in what could be a soundtrack to the end of the world, or the start of a new one.

The Brvtalist is pleased to present the music video premiere of “Suture” by Purgate. The solo project of Frederic Arbour (1/2 of Industrial Techno duo Stärker, Visions), the artist crafts deep ambient atmospherics, exploring purely analog circuitry through dense layers of treated modular systems and sparse, pulsing rhythmic structures. “Suture” comes off the new Elemental 12” (Aufnahme + Wiedergabe), a collection of six sonic compositions which pervade the sense and disorient the mind. The video is created by longtime friend and experimental filmmaker Karl Lemieux (Live film projectionist for God Speed You Black Emperor), keeping a focus on all analog mediums with live projections of abstract layers of decomposed 16mm film experiments.

Welsh singer, musician and producer Kelly Lee Owens has come a long way since her former life as a nurse. That was during her teens, before she went on to work in London's Pure Groove Records, play bass in shoegaze band History of Apple Pie and then link with Daniel Avery to provide vocals on his Drone Logic album. Those sessions had a big impact and served as the catalyst that fully converted Owens to techno. In 2017, her self titled debut album confirmed she was a vital new voice and picked up critical acclaim. Showcasing a bouncy, pop laced take on the genre, it was truly unique and will be followed up by new album Inner Song in August this year.

Ahead of that comes a mix that plays with bendy bass and rubber kick drum patterns that can go from club ready one moment to more uncanny the next. Drones, resonant frequencies and a real grasp of empty space and absorbing atmosphere all define the journey, which means there is plenty of time to think, get drawn in and lost in sound.

Daniel Gomez has proven incredibly hard to pin down since he first emerged. After starting down a path that very quickly took him to the best clubs in the world but off the back of a sound that wasn't really his, he has managed to rewrite perceptions. After deciding to do things his own way, at his own pace, he is now known for what he really loves: techno, electro and IDM. Just recently he continued his collaborative work with Brazilian RHR on four dark, gritty and evocative cuts on OmniDisc, and has more music on the way soon on Schematic Records.

This mix hints at what to expect from that EP, says Danny. "Due to the current conditions, I decided to go with chill zone session for this one mixed live with a bunch of the styles that influenced me over the last 20 years. Went a bit more trip-hop/IDM/electro with it which points to the direction the upcoming EP and album later in the year. Hope everyone has a nice week." So strap in for two freewheeling hours of interplanetary sonics, churning rhythms and otherworldly cinematics that will start your week right.

In the last couple of years, London's SHERELLE has torn through the dance music world like a tornado. Everything she does is high speed and high impact, from what she mixes to the way she mixes it. Her dizzying mix of footwork, jungle and drum & bass has breathed new life into the 160bpm scene and got people all over Europe in a spin. As well as solo work, she plays as part of the 6 Figure Gang and runs the Hooversound Recordings label with Naina while also championing all things leftfield on her BBC Radio 1 residency.

Of course, her 80 minute mix for us is pure fire, a bumping ride through thrilling kick patterns, shimmering toms and drilling bass. It's underpinned with a constant sense of tension that keeps you utterly on the edge of your seat and variously explodes into life, or pulls back to a moment of unsettling calm. It tells the story of a rich history of UK music, but with a fresh perspective that makes it all the more vital.

Directed by Unn, “Life Is A Theater” is a stunning video work which uses architecture, the human form and more to convey the artist’s powerful message. Modular Mind is a label that provides a platform to help demarginalize artists that are expressing themselves within the boundaries of counterculture. The label always makes a statement with artists showing a side that is true to them and themselves.

The label's 9th installement; [MM05] Human Tragedy mini-LP by Years of Denial is no exception to their ethos. Here we can find some of YoD's most expressive work, a conceptualized statement from start to finish, holding the torch of what has been described as a lost doctrine (reporting the extreme parallels of the human condition). The duo's work on MM05 holds the users hand and shows them a window overlooking a peculiar world, void of perversion.

Modular Mind showcases this work in full by presenting a beautifully crafted 180g marbled vinyl, a strictly limited edition 60-page art booklet, and lastly a combination of body art expression and masterful envisioned video directive premiered here at The Brvtalist.

Out June 18th and you can pre-order the release. www.thebrvtalist.com/lifeisatheater/

Dutch techno hero Dimi Angélis is presenting an incredible 3 hours of 100% Jeff Mills vinyl on a 2 decks set-up. Hypnotic to blistering, sci-fi to gritty, all sides of Jeff are being on this newest contribution to the series. A must listen for sure, and it includes a tracklist (scroll down!) too.

Dimi: “The mix is recorded during the last ANGLS Locked stream I’ve been doing at my studio every two weeks since we were in lockdown. Most of the time I pick a theme for the show, and after doing one on Regis, Surgeon, The Advent and Luke Slater, it was about time to do a Jeff Mills special.

This got a bit out of hand time-wise though and ended up being 4.5 (!) hours. Mills is so diverse, but in general it’s always deep. After all, this mix is kind of a club night trip. I start the mix like I would do in a club, but only added a bit more ambient and soundscape-stuff to the beginning.I found the original length being a bit too long for a podcast though, so I decided to take that first part - including the more atmosphere-y beginning - off. It’s almost 3 hours full of Mills stuff now, and overall I hope it shows his diversity and what he stands for. Almost everything he has been doing sound-wise comes along within the mix.”

Garçon rightly considers himself an "expert in mood modulation." He is someone who carefully builds a groove, teasing with snippets, dropping in and out of tunes and drawing out the process of gratification and please. The Swiss man does it as resident at Elysia in Basel, often with a techno foundation but drawing on niches from all over the electronic spectrum. He co-runs the Amenthia Recordings label with Agonis and has said it takes its musical identity from the utilitarian space of his home club.

This mix was recorded there last Friday, with CDJs and 1210s, but also a Space Echo that adds extra depth throughout. Starting in a cavernous industrial space from the off, the sound of sonic decay, eerie reverb and slow motion rhythmic automation all provide details that draw you ever deep into this industrial scene. As the drums become more prominent and the tempo hurries, the mood is no less unsettling and deserted. Broken techno, lurching bass and dark dub all feature in this most skilfully restrained yet highly impactful selection.
The Brvtalist pleased to premiere a new track from ED1999. “Evil Disorder” comes off the upcoming EP, Original Sin, out May 29th on Porpax. Completing the trilogy of releases in collusion with graphic artist Oliver Sperl, the Belgian techno producer finishes off with a 4-track dark experiment of audio-visual harmony, complete with blasting industrial beats and doom-metal growls. Today we present the B1 track, “Evil Disorder” which is a more atmospheric take on the sinister mood of the EP, and dives deep in to a world of cold steel, clashing metals and an alien sound which haunts for days.

Last week, we kicked off the brand new series with close family member Palms Trax who did a Joaquin Joe Claussell tribute, and we’re happy Jameszoo jumped on the train as well to do the next. Let's admit it right away: he has absolutely blown our minds by cooking up a 𝟐𝟒 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐱 (!) for In Focus. A favourite digger of ours blows his collection wide open to soundtrack a perfect rotation of the earth: "brushing teeth, eating dinner... losing and regaining focus many times." What a champ.

Jameszoo: "For me real focus is too scarce to be able to rely on it. It comes and it goes without me feeling like I have got a firm grip on it. Luckily, I very much enjoy the shift of focus. I enjoy it when focus is there, but also when it becomes fluid again. I remember seeing a 6 hour chunk of Christian Marclays 'The Clock' where fragments of film together with my own (lack of) focus created ever changing new narratives.

During these following 24 hours of music, it will certainly become night and then day again, the earth will rotate once (perfectly), we will brush our teeth and eat dinner, and most likely we will lose and regain focus many times. If anything it will help to bring us to this exact moment one day from now — enjoy."

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Profanayty. The untamed alter ego of India based artist Nayanika Kapoor, Profanayty wears many hats, most often against a running backdrop of routine bans from the social media police for provocative expressionism, and utterly ruthless doomsday techno interspersed with old school rave and gabber kicks. Typically operating at a broiling high BPM, a trip to the upside-down with Profanayty takes no prisoners in her break-neck exploration of strains of techno, acid, and hardcore. An almost ritualistic experience, the ways of Profanayty are designed to inspire an unholy piety amongst the discerning as well as an unsuspecting. Her spawns lovingly refer to her as the First Lady of Pandemonium, for consistently demonstrating her unadulterated fidelity towards the far extremes of the collective grand envelope of music, arts, and culture, and striving to evoke the spirit of uncompromising debauchery coupled with sweat- soaked hedonism.

Since discovering her work, I’ve been drawn in to Profanayty’s super charged universe and today we are thrilled to present this pulse pounding set which introduces us to her sound and energy. In addition, we spoke with the artist about her background, throwing parties in India, the lockdown and more. Visit: www.thebrvtalist.com/newbrvtalism231profanayty/

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from About:kaos. “Strukture” is a huge work off the upcoming release, Vitruvian, out next week on Nocturnal Frequencies. Influenced by the hardest sounds of Berlin´s Techno scene, about:kaos merges different genres trying unique compositions and arrangement forms. This release is a perfect example of this. From throttling industrial disorder to striking soundscapes and tortuous atmospheres, this is a crushing release from the artist. Also known as Kaoslog, he views that project as the positive (+) side and all other projects as the negative (-) one.

Nocturnal Frequencies Black Series has done an outstanding job with their industrial techno selections and this entry is no different. Out May 30th. www.thebrvtalist.com/aboutkaosstrukture/

The French artist is set to drop Istanbul, a new EP on Argentinian imprint Gomboc Records and today we premiere the title track which is a magical trip which nearly transports you to the Turkish metropolis while keeping the artist’s signature power and hard hitting prowess alive and well. With its hypnotic sounds and tension building atmospheres, “Istanbul” resonates loudly across continents. The EP also contains the original, “Talkshow Addiction” which is a more delicate yet still massive track which leaves its mark. Finally, the release rounds things off with a remix by TWAN which pushes the tempo to dance floor destruction and a rough, rugged industrial remix by Aneed.

Robert Witschakowski-Jockel has been a core part of electro's evolution since the late nineties. From early days bringing big names like Jeff Mills and Robert Hood to his hometown of Jena as a promoter, he soon elevated himself to become one of the best acid live acts in the game. Nowadays, he runs his own carefully-curated Solar One Music, has collaborated with Drexciya's Gerald Donald and released his own shadowy electro on Shipwrec, Clone West Coast Series and Crème Organization. He is a hugely prolific artist who is always tweaking and evolving his sound while staying true to his original sci-fi visions.

All of that feeds into this week's mix, which is a bumpy, rough riding electro adventure that unfolds with a real sense of narrative. From the icy and high speed launch it quickly moves on to moments of smooth-cruising calm, guides you through solar storms and frantic acid work outs. The texture change, too, from ragged and frazzled to shiny and seductive, but are all stitched together seamlessly by a master of the form.
The Brvalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Mørbeck. A key figure both in the Berlin and global techno community, Mørbeck has been at the forefront of the sound for years and Berlin 95 (Wunderblock Records) sees the producer look to the past to generate music which fits the future. Today we premiere the title track which is a heart stopping, acid and trance infused work which channels nostalgic energy but creates sometimes totally fresh. The remaining three tracks on the EP prove why Mørbeck remains at the top of the class and continues to evolve his sound.

Our new In Focus mix series have been brought to life during times of isolation. And what’s better than spending your time diving into new music or DJ-sets from artists you admire? That’s what we thought. The next couple of weeks, we will be asking one artist each week to deliver a mix build around a self-picked theme. Everyone is free to do what and how they feel like, and create something special for themselves and everyone who’s keen to give it a listen too. We hope you enjoy.

Who else would be better to kick off with than our dear friend Palms Trax? Not only has Jay been a favourite of ours for years, he has become probably everyone else’s as well. His contribution to In Focus is one we have listened to in one go: a “100% originals, features, edits and remixes by Joaquin Joe Claussell” mix, which resulted in a stirring and spiritual tribute to one of the all-time greats.

Palms Trax: “Over the last couple of years I’ve found his music to have this wonderful effect on a dancefloor where the whole place can feel like it’s levitating, so when lockdown hit I started going through his records at home and found it to be incredibly healing. Hopefully some people out there feel the same way!“.
The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Myn. Perhaps the perfect ending to a week of raw, underground electronics, the French artist has become known throughout the world for his diverse sets which range from everything to electro, techno, acid, minimal synth, italo and beyond. Without falling into any genre categories, Myn has no limits to dance floors he destroys and with releases on Pinkman and his own Public Systems Recordings, his productions follow the same ethos.

We are thrilled to host this brvtal set from the artist and to mark the occasion we present an interview with the man himself where we discuss the pandemic, fatherhood and more. Read at: www.thebrvtalist.com/newbrvtalism230myn/

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Security DJ. The Parisian artist and Rinse France resident returns after the success of "Fucking DJ", a collaboration with Sophia De Jong released on Raw Culture’s previous V/A comp. This time, the label dedicates two whole sides to his weirdness and it pays off as this is a rough and rugged release of twisted electronics and thought provoking themes which also includes a stellar remix by Cardopusher and vocals by label boss Asymmetrical. Today we present the haunted acid infestations of “Domestic Xs”, so sit back and get taken by this one.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Experiment Zero. “Black Money” is acidic electronic mutations, seething from beneath the earth which comes off the new EP, The Non Assay Sound Of The Underground (Black Lodge). “Experiment Zero” was a primordial experiment rooted in the slam jack pits and DIY warehouse rituals of ages passed. A sonic dialog constructed of various languages, spanning from roots-house jack to bare-knuckled electro are revealed across the artifact - a revolutionary tale that surpasses the constructs of ephemerality, with a refusal to be ignored.

After further research it has been discovered that, Experiment Zero is the product of Dona, aka Dj Plant Texture and Mike Tansella Jr. of Son of Traders, both from the mercantile city of Bari in Southern Italy. Previous works from these artists have been featured on Unknown to Unknown, Illian Tapes, Gravitational Waves, and Creme Organization. All sonic experimentation was recorded in one take to capture the raw energy of instantaneous collaborative sound craft operating in flux. Black Lodge’s 4th release is sure to find a space in the music collections of those seeking to travel within the uncanny portals that unforgivingly defy the status quo.

Planet Euphorique is the name of D. Tiffany’s label, but also a perfect summation of her sound: musically she reworks rave, euphoria, trance, electro, breakbeat and techno into all out emotional onslaughts that get hands in the air and chests swelling with joy. The Canadian - who also runs the xpq? label - has always got things done on her own terms, from running parties in her own house in Vancouver to making dance music with the gear she had previously used as part of a band via setting up her own women-focused Intersessions DJ school.

This week she treats us to an extra special two hour selection that will take you to the heart of a rave in your front room. It’s a mix that bristles with life, from dusty and teary-eyed breakbeats that are shrouded in nostalgia to more clipped and kicking techno. The mixing is tight and urgent and after initially serving up plenty of lush moments of melody and IDM introspection, it grows all the more direct and unhinged later on.
The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new video from Drvg Cvlvture. The veteran producer and New York Haunted head delivers Cities in Dvst, a 4 track EP that also launches Portugal’s Flagelante imprint. “Flies Eating Him Alive” is the first track on the EP and kicks things off with an acidic plague of doom that slowly consumes all in its path. Created by Das Monstrvm, the video offers an up-close visual accompaniment of devouring insects. The remaining tracks on the EP represent a bleak reflection of current times, from the punishment of “Feed Souls To The Sentient Machine” to the global electro commentary of "One Man's Death is Another's Investment Opportunity", these are poignant tracks for the modern world.

Originally founded by Das Monstrvm and A Thousand Details, Nova Ordem Flagelante began with the creation a podcast and promotion of events to spread darkness to the world. As the current situation had taken a sour turn for gatherings, it has been decided that all rituals must be postponed. As such, the 2 evil popes have decided on the addition of Teragon to their ranks to decide how to solve this problem. This unholy trinity has decided that, to spread the sound of evil, it would be necessary a new record label and thus FLAGELANTE is born.

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Diamondstein as Pure Violence. Diamondstein is an LA-based producer and performer primarily known for his monthly NTS show Night Shift, as well as his cinematic and melancholic releases through labels Dream Catalogue, Doom Trip, and others. His often eerie and experimental show Night Shift has been a mainstay on NTS since the first days of the station's Los Angeles presence and has featured guests ranging from Drew McDowall and Headless Horseman to Marie Davidson, Deafheaven, and Sacred Bones label head Caleb Braaten.

Unlike Diamondstein's traditionally pensive and atmospheric productions and mixes, his alias Pure Violence focusses on more brash, intense, industrial techno. His February Pure Violence mix for NTS was a Resident Advisor Mix of the Day. Titled The Pent-Up Energy Mix, we are thrilled to host this installment of sheer brvtality that builds tension from the start and quickly unleashes devastation. www.thebrvtalist.com/newbrvtalism229pureviolence/

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Lulu. The emerging Parisian artist is inspired by old school rave sounds and more singular styles such as rap, dubstep and and rock. He now brings us, Interversion (KTK Records), a 3 track EP where his influences can be easily discerned. 'Wake Up It's Your Time' incorporates groovy but ghetto vocals, while the next two tracks bring us back to the roots of the rave sound. The EP is completed by a legendary remix by the timeless icon Mark EG, who became famous beyond the borders of Britain with his interest in so many different styles of electronic music. Lulu’s amalgamation of sounds quickly caught our attention and Interversion takes different genres outside the box to combine for a fresh and exciting release. www.thebrvtalist.com/luluwakeupitsyourtime/

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from WTCHCRFT. The New York City-based artist is set to drop his Acid EP, which are four tracks of everyone’s favorite 303 mutations. Today we present “Pornography Of The Real”, a pulse pounding, highly infectious work dripping with chemicals that burn through the speakers. The EP hits all the right notes and the producer has only one message: “I hope everyone is staying inside and dancing”. www.thebrvtalist.com/wtchcrftpornographyofthereal/

New Yorker AceMo is an artist with an intense work rate. In the DJ booth he races through tunes, rhythms and styles with an insatiable sense of energy, and in the studio he is as prolific as they come. He has put out four EPs in the last year that take in jungle updates, battered techno and euphoric bass, and his self-released Existential album in late December came with a more thoughtful and philosophical dimension.

This week's mix is a bumping one that hits the ground running. Impassioned and uplifting house soon gets you locked before you rough ride through dusty breakbeats, twisted acid and percussive work outs. Kinetic juke and footwork styles and more fist pumping, brain frying house are all touched upon throughout this most wide-ranging selection and breathless selection, so strap in!
The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Militiā. “Deviant” comes the new EP, Anatomy of Faith, out on UK imprint SXCALA. The EP is SXCALA's second release by Militiā, and it features five original productions that retrace over tough and energetic pastures, combining splintering Techno with dynamic DnB and representing a natural dissemination into the SXD catalog. Today we present “Deviant” which caught our attention immediately as it punishes with high intensity rhythms and perfectly builds until descending into chaos.

The whole EP is an excellent work of menacing techno that is fully armed and operational. www.thebrvtalist.com/militiadeviant/

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Marina Aleksandra. “Animal Industrial Complex" (Radolph & Mortimer Remix) is a work of pure fire which came to fruition in September 2019 when Marina contributed a slamming techno remix to R&M’s Exclude/Divide single, a massive remix that was featured in DJ sets around the globe and helped propel the single to the top of the genre best sellers charts on Bandcamp. Now the favor has been returned. R&M have taken Marina’s epic Techno original and re-worked it into a high energy EBM/Electro thrasher - taking Marina’s provocative vocal and looping it over raw synths and huge kicks and snares. This is peak time business for all the shutdown dance floors in the pandemic age. For the past couple years Aleksandra has been destroying clubs across Europe with her brvtalizing sound and high intensity DJ sets. This track proves once again why she has become one of our favorite artists to watch and you will definitely be hearing more from her soon on The Brvtalist.

Born and raised in Amsterdam and with his roots in Japan, Masalo is an artist who is firmly at the heart of the city’s music scene. He’s active in numerous ways, though his focus lies solidly on DJing and producing, in which he has been turning heads with his open minded approach that takes in music that brims with vitality. The Brighter Days party he runs with Kamma is famously colourful and friendly, like the man himself, and his choice productions have found their home on the Rush Hour label, the imprint he’s closely connected with.

For this week’s mix he takes us on a two hour journey to a better place with an electrifying selection of organic dance jams, new wave, spiritual house and big hearted disco that will have you in a spin. The mixing is superbly tight given that the tunes jump around so freely from the old to the new, and it all adds up to a huge injection of escapist positivity that we all need in our lives right now.

Mark Knekelhuis is a world explorer who brings a love of live instrumentation to his dance music. The Knekelhuis label boss is a staunchly DIY operator who is also the voice of Volition Immanent, a live act along side Dekmantel regular Parrish Smith. He makes music that manages to be deeply personal but also immediate and arresting and that same style defines his radio shows on Red Light Radio.

His mix for us is an exploration of deeply hypnotic sounds and dreamy breakbeats to slowly but surely wake you up right at the start of the week. Once you’re in the groove, there is space travelling electro and beautifully delicate melodic techno that continues to sooth your soul as you journey through the cosmos and off to a better place.
French Synth-punk band Hystérie presents their first EP on Area Z after two releases on Parisian label ‘Le Turc Mécanique’. The 3 members of the band offer an engaging and personal material, whether in the lyrics or in their musical composition. Previously described as ‘Cold-Industrial’ they continue to deliver and develop their unique sound, reinforced by the lyrics sang in French. The lyrics have a strong take on freedom and social liberties, addressing the current social issues in France and more generally happening worldwide such as police abuses and the loss of democratic rights. In this present work the band members personally engage themselves through a reflection about loss; whether it’s about dogma, illusions, hopes or reference points. It is about loss, in all its meanings and how to keep going from then.

The track “Chaos” says it all. During the chorus, the sentence “Le Chaos règne”, meaning “Chaos rules” is repeated over and over again. The rattling guitar lines express this overwhelming chaos which seems to be all there is left. “Le Temps est venu, de faire ton Deuil”, which means “Now your time has come to mourn” is the last sentence sang in the track that wraps up the EP. It leaves the listener a lot to reflect upon. Despite the heavy and dark input that this song deals with, the final impression is uplifting and strength giving! The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from Charly Schaller. Born in Munich Germany, Schaller discovered her passion for techno during her gap year when she was first exposed to it as a raver in Berlin’s Techno clubs. After moving to England to study at the University of Cambridge, she developed her penchant for diverse sub-genres of techno music after being exposed to an ambit of musical cultures in the UK.

Upon finishing her studies in Philosophy, Charly relocated to Berlin and began Djing in various clubs and venues across Berlin and Germany, including: About Blank, Grießmühle, and Arena Club.

Since her debut, Charly’s DJ repertoire has embraced an eclectic musical collection that allows the audience to explore a truly personalised sensorial experience. Boasting a passion for tracks with vocals, as well as Rave, percussion heavy bangers, and dramatic synth lines, Charly merges divergent musical styles in her DJ sets as a unique signature; one that inspires the audience to be fully immersed in the euphoric experience that only music can inspire.

Charly is currently a promoter and resident at Edge Detection (at PAL/About Blank) and Strictly Forbidden (at Maze). More recently she has been picked up by Alan Fitzpatricks “We Are The Brave” label and will be releasing on their “Electric Soul” compilation in June, alongside playing various shows for the brand. We are thrilled to have her contribute to our series with this explosive mix of techno, acid, rave and more, showcasing her diverse sound.

Booking agency and clothing brand, Orden, launches its first release, Excess of Signs and Meaning by Swiss musician/producer, S S S S.

Excess is the tenth release by Samuel Savenberg who is also known for his work in Die Selektion and Dillon. The record contains four tracks loosely based on material he has been using for his more club-oriented live sets in recent times. The EP contains heavy yet playfully arranged rhythmic patterns accompanied by several variations of Industrial elements.

The title Excess of Signs and Meaning can be seen as a comment on how nowadays Music and Popular culture tries to load itself with Semiotics and Statements seemingly in fear of losing importance.

The Brvtalist is delighted to premiere “Abscissus”, a word which takes its roots from Latin “abscissa” which means to cut off, or to separate.

This second track reflects upon this loss of meaning and loss of understanding about what is important and what is not. This confusion is very well represented through the irregular and deconstructed, or even fragmented patterns we hear at the beginning. So, one can wonder: if everything means something, nothing means anything.

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Berlin Bunny. Born in Poland, now based in Berlin, the multi-disciplinary artist reveals her debut EP, Maneki Neko (i-Traxx), which contains one original industrial work plus three remixes from some of the artist’s favorite producers right now. Literally meaning "beckoning cat", Maneki-neko (招き猫) is a common Japanese figurine talisman, which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner.  The name of the EP is influenced by the artist’s temporary residency in Shenzhen, China, where her focus on production of this release began. Today we present the Evil Dust remix, a sinister mutation of the original which delivers the Unmasked resident’s signature hard hitting sound. The EP also includes remixes from Belgian rave sound master Ethan Fawkes and a solid electro pounding track by Dave Inox.

Roi Perez is at the beating heart of the queer dance music scene in Europe. His route to the top started with a residency back home in Tel Aviv, but since moving to Berlin 2013 he has gone on to make a wider impact with regular standout sets at fetish club Lab.Oratory and Berghain’s Panorama Bar. His focus is always on buying, playing and selling records rather than making them, so he is an adventurous DJ who is always evolving but is famed for his long, winding, eclectic sets that span multiple sounds and scenes.

Even over the course of just an hour in the mix for us this week, he manages to travel far and wide. It's a party starting selection, for sure, with emotive breakbeats next to pumping percussive rhythms, steamy house and jacking acid. The rhythms are always raw and ragged, meaning Perez does a fine job of keeping you on the tips of your toes from start to finish.
